What is the THEA? |
The Texas Higher Educaction Assessment or one of the available alternative tests, Compass, ASSET or Accuplacer, must be completed by all students attending Texas colleges or universities. For more information on the Thea test click here.
All students entering Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are required to take the entire test unless exempt. Click here for a list of TSI exemptions. For more information about taking the THEA exam and examination dates, consult the Academic Testing Center on campus, or the official THEA website.
Attendance
Classroom attendance is mandatory for THEA liable students. Students may check their current classroom attendance by seeing their professor. Any excuses must be discussed with the professor. Tutorial attendance can be discussed with the Academic Intervention Specialist at 825-2977.
NCBR
Non-credit based developmental education consists of individual assessment and aid in preparing for the THEA exam by a qualified tutor. Students not passing the exam are required to enroll in the appropriate course. Once the student has completed the course requirements and fails the THEA exam a second time, they can be recommended by an Intervention Specialist to enroll in the appropriate non-credit based class. This applies only to students with special circumstances.
